Curtains Up At The Bull Theatre
A place to perform, make friends and shine
Curtains Up is an inclusive performing arts group for adults (18+) with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism, giving students the opportunity to explore acting, singing, dance and performance in a supportive and welcoming theatre environment.
Each week, students work with Fixation Academy's creative team to develop their performing arts skills, build confidence and work collaboratively with others.
But Curtains Up is about much more than performing.
It's about friendships, confidence, creativity, independence and having the opportunity to be part of something.

What do we do?
Curtains Up meets weekly during term time, giving students the opportunity to develop their performing arts skills in a fun, creative and supportive environment.
Sessions include:
🎭 Acting – developing characters, confidence and performance skills
💃 Dance & Movement – exploring movement, choreography and expression
🎤 Singing – building confidence and enjoying singing together
🎬 Devised Theatre – creating original performances and stories together
🌟 Performance – working collaboratively towards local performances and our annual showcase
Throughout the year, students have opportunities to perform in the local community and work towards our annual showcase, giving everyone the chance to celebrate their achievements and share their talents with an audience.
We also organise local theatre trips throughout the year, giving students the opportunity to experience live theatre together, as well as fundraising activities and other social opportunities.
Get Involved – Volunteers Wanted!
Curtains Up is also looking for volunteers who would like to get involved and support the group behind the scenes.
You don't need to be a performer to be part of the team. We would particularly welcome volunteers with an interest or experience in:

🎧 Sound & Technical Support
Whether you have previous theatre experience or simply have a practical skill you'd love to share, we'd love to hear from you.
